4 Ways to Keep the Heat in Your Home During Winter

We are always looking for creative ways to help home owners save money. Here are a few things you can do to keep the heat in your home and the utility company out of your pocket.

1 – Thick Curtains – Thick curtains are one of the main ways to protect your house from losing heat through the windows. Curtains with a thermal lining are a relatively cheap option.

2. Is anyone using that room? – Shut up unused rooms. Keeping doors closed will prevent cold air moving into the rest of the house and contain the heat you’ve generated in a smaller area.

3. According to the National Energy Foundation – floors account for as much as 10% heat loss if they are not insulated. One way to insulate your floor is to cover it with a rug or blanket.

4. Last but not least: use free energy – Free energy? Yep, during the day your window blinds should be open to allow the heat from the sunlight to pierce through your windows. Then close your blinds at dusk.

I know this may sound crazy, but sometimes you have do the crazy things to get the crazy results. Start feeding your piggy bank with these cost saving ideas.
